Another important game other than tennis will be in Carlos Alcaraz‘s mind on Thursday. He is in London for the Queen’s Club Championships and easily went past Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo 6-1, 7-5 to set up his second-round clash on Thursday against new British No.1 Jack Draper

Unfortunately for Alcaraz, on that same day, his favorite team Spain, placed in Group B, will be taking on Italy in the Euro Cup which is underway in Germany. He doesn’t want to miss the game and for the same reason he has a bizarre request to the organizers and wants them to reschedule his match so that it doesn’t clash with Italy versus Spain.

I will do it, yeah. I mean, the Euro Cup is every four years. Now is the time to watch and support Spain. Yeah, hopefully, I will request to play early.
Carlos Alcaraz said after the match

Alcaraz’s interest in football is not hidden from the tennis fans and like compatriot Rafael Nadal, he is a huge Madridista as well. He even produced a celebration like Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham by stretching his arms in front of the fans after reaching the semifinals of the 2023 US Open by beating Alexander Zverev. And to celebrate that moment, he posted his picture on X with the caption: “Hey Jude! @BellinghamJude.”

Jannik might message Carlos Alcaraz if Italy wins the Euros match versus Spain

Spain will be playing against a country that may have produced Carlos Alcaraz‘s biggest rival on the ATP Tour, who is also a huge football fan. Jannik Sinner, the new World No.1 and the first from Italy, though, may not be watching the match because he “needs his space to watch” something he really cares about, he may message Alcaraz if Italy wins the game.

During an interview with the ATP Tour, the 22-year-old was asked if he would text Alcaraz if Italy wins the match to which Sinner answered, “No, I will never do that. Maybe!

In the Euros, these two teams will be meeting for the eighth time. Spain and Italy won their first matches by beating Croatia and Albania respectively and the winners of Thursday’s game will proceed to the knockout stage.

Alcaraz and Sinner, who are playing in the Queen’s Club Championships and Halle Open respectively, will play their next round match on the same day. While Alcaraz will face Jack Draper for the third time on the ATP Tour, Sinner, who overcame Tallon Griekspoor in three sets 6-7(8-10), 6-3, 6-2, will be facing Fabian Marozsan
