Carlos Alcaraz, a big fan of golf like his idol Rafael Nadal, recently spoke about his interest in the sport during an interview with the Financial Times. He mentioned that he has even arranged to play with fellow tennis pro Casper Ruud.

During Wimbledon, Alcaraz spent some of his free time on the golf course. He was often asked about his rounds with Andy Murray. Interestingly, Murray usually came out on top during their games. Alcaraz said on Financial Times:

I love playing golf and I’ve played a few courses here in the UK. With the rain we’ve had, there should be plenty of great courses! Rafa’s playing really well. Alex de Minaur is playing too. I played Andy Murray the other day and he beat me. He’s spent a lot of time on the course practicing and it shows…I also played Casper Ruud and he beat me too. Do I want revenge? Oh, of course. Next time I play him, I’ll remember he beat me at golf, and I’ll hit the ball even harder.

Alcaraz enjoys mixing his training with moments of relaxation, and golf has become one of his favorite pastimes. He finds it a good way to unwind during busy tournaments. On the tennis court, Alcaraz and Ruud have faced off in high-stakes matches. Their most memorable clash was in the 2022 US Open final, where Alcaraz claimed his first Grand Slam title.

Carlos Alcaraz refuses to behave like Novak Djokovic

Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz, one of the biggest names in tennis, has revealed that fame doesn’t shield him from his mother’s scolding. Despite winning five Grand Slam titles, including the 2025 French Open, he recently lost the Wimbledon final to Jannik Sinner. Speaking about his lifestyle during tournaments, Alcaraz admitted he handles things differently compared to players like Novak Djokovic and Sinner.

Off the court, Alcaraz has a known interest in collecting trainers. He recently showed off some of his collection at Wimbledon. His mother, however, is not a fan of his growing obsession, often criticizing him for cluttering her house with shoes and trophies.

My mother tells me off because I come back from every tournament with more sneakers and she says, ‘No, don’t bring more, there’s nowhere to put them.’

Unlike his disciplined rivals, Alcaraz is more relaxed when it comes to his diet. He confessed that he doesn’t follow a strict meal plan, even during tournaments. While others avoid indulgence, he allows himself occasional treats, as long as it’s in moderation. This sets him apart from Djokovic, who once reportedly celebrated a Grand Slam win with just a piece of chocolate.

Despite being ranked world No. 2 and striking fear into opponents, Alcaraz’s personal habits show his more relatable side. He’s still figuring out how to balance success and personal enjoyment. Finding space for his achievements may be a small issue, but it’s one he doesn’t seem to mind having.

Casper Ruud upset in Canadian Open

Karen Khachanov secured a solid win over Casper Ruud, defeating the eighth seed 6-4, 7-5. This marked Khachanov’s first victory over the Norwegian in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series. Despite Ruud fighting back from 2-4 down in the second set and saving three break points at 4-4, Khachanov kept his focus to close out the match.

The Russian was especially dominant on his first serve, winning 29 of 30 points. This strong performance helped him advance to his 10th ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final. The match lasted one hour and 33 minutes and highlighted Khachanov’s composure under pressure.

With the win, Khachanov ended a tough stretch, snapping an 11-match losing streak against Top 20 players. He now holds a 14-6 record in the Canadian ATP Masters 1000 tournament, making it his second-best event after Paris, where he has 16 wins.

Casper Ruud, who was runner-up at the 2022 Nitto ATP Finals, exits the tournament sitting 10th in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin. However, his position could change, as Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Holger Rune are still in the competition and close behind in the rankings.
