Carlos Alcaraz played at LoanDepot Park, the home of Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins. He was one of the players who featured in the Miami Invitational, an exhibition event.
Alcaraz paired up with Jessica Pegula for the mixed doubles match, which they won by defeating the pair of Amanda Anisimova and Joao Fonseca. Though unofficial, Alcaraz met Fonseca for the first time, which ended in the six-time Grand Slam champion’s favor in three sets. Fonseca has now become a two-time ATP titlist. The World No.24, after winning the Next Gen ATP Finals against Learner Tien, went past home favorite Francisco Cerundolo in the final of the Argentina Open. He later defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to win his career’s first ATP 500 title at the Swiss Indoors. The 19-year-old finished the season with a three-set defeat to Karen Khachanov at the Paris Masters.
Alcaraz’s participation in exhibition matches has often raised eyebrows because of his complaints about the 11-month tennis calendar. Critics argue that Alcaraz, instead of signing up for exhibitions, should focus on rest when he is not competing on the tour.
Alcaraz, in response to criticism, often pointed out that playing in exhibitions is different than competing on the tour as the latter brings a great deal of stress and pressure. Before the off-season, Alcaraz played three exhibitions this year, including the Six Kings Slam, where Jannik Sinner once again beat him in the final, defending his crown.
Alcaraz will feature in another exhibition just before the Australian Open. He will lock horns with none other than his arch-rival in Incheon, South Korea.
Cameron Norrie calls Carlos Alcaraz a better player than Jannik Sinner
Cameron Norrie has now given his take on who, between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, is a better player. Norrie trails 3-5 in the head-to-head matchups against the 22-year-old, with the third victory coming in the second round of the Paris Masters. The Brit has never faced the four-time Grand Slam champion.

I have never played Sinner. I have practiced with him a lot. I really want to play him. I would like to do that first before I give you my honest opinion, but I always back Alcaraz to be honest.
Cameron Norrie said on the Nothing Major podcast
Norrie finished the season in 27th spot on the rankings table with a 34-26 win-loss record. The 30-year-old failed to win a title, with his last title being the 2023 Rio Open. Since then, Norrie lost two finals, including this year’s Metz Open at the hands of Learner Tien.
I always think he has more variety, and I love watching him. He is so good to watch, my favourite to watch. So I always back Alcaraz, and I stick with him.
Cameron Norrie added
Alcaraz and Sinner are way ahead in the competition on the ATP tour as they have won a combined 26 titles from 35 finals. They also won the last eight Grand Slam titles.
This year, Sinner reached the final of every Major, losing the French Open and the US Open to Alcaraz, who failed to complete a three-peat at Wimbledon as he lost the match to Sinner. The Italian defended his Australian Open crown by defeating Alexander Zverev.
Sinner and Alcaraz met six times this year, with the former winning two matches – at Wimbledon and at the ATP Finals, where he defended his crown with a straight-set win. The 24-year-old took home six titles from 10 finals, while Alcaraz won the most this season – eight titles from 11 finals. The last title that Alcaraz lifted this season was the Japan Open by defeating Taylor Fritz.
