Joao Fonseca locked horns with Carlos Alcaraz for the first time in his career. The match, however, was an unofficial one as they met in the Miami Invitational, an exhibition event where, apart from Alcaraz and Fonseca, Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova also featured.

The match between Fonseca and Alcaraz was a tight encounter, but in the end, the result ended in the six-time Grand Slam champion’s favor. Following the match, Alcaraz was asked his opinion regarding his and Fonseca’s hairstyle. Fonseca shaved his head because of a bet, according to which, if he won an ATP 500 title, he would have a haircut.

Fonseca clinched the Swiss Indoors, an ATP 500 event, by defeating Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The 19-year-old, as per the bet, then shaved his head. So when Alcaraz was asked to rate his and Fonseca’s hairstyles, he left it to the fans to decide.

That’s a question for the public, not me. We need to see what people say, and we need to have a vote.

Alcaraz made global headlines due to his hairstyle during the US Open. Because his brother Alvarez messed up with the machine, Alcaraz was forced to wear a buzzcut.

Fonseca, the winner of the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals, clinched his career’s first tour-level title at the Argentina Open by defeating home favorite Francisco Cerundolo. He ended the season in 24th spot on the rankings table, thanks to his two titles as well as his performance in the main draws of the Grand Slam events. In Majors, he reached the third round of the French Open and Wimbledon, while at the Australian Open and the US Open, his run ended in the second round.

Jasmine Paolini on who between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz is a better player

Who is a better player between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner? The tennis world loves to discuss this, and often the active players are asked to choose between the two. Jasmine Paolini, when asked the same question during her interview on Fabio Fazio’s TV show, picked the 22-year-old.

Jannik or Alcaraz? It’s impossible to choose. I admire how hard Sinner hits the ball; it’s a feeling I really enjoy, and I also enjoy it on myself when I can hit it hard. Obviously, Alcaraz also has tennis that sometimes leaves you speechless; they are both incredible.

Paolini, who last year reached two Grand Slam finals at the French Open and Wimbledon, failed to progress beyond the fourth round of a Major this year. She, however, clinched her second Big Title by defeating Coco Gauff at the Italian Open.

Paolini also reached the final of the Cincinnati Masters, but couldn’t beat World No.2 Iga Swiatek. The World No.8 also qualified for the WTA Finals for the second consecutive time but failed to progress beyond the round-robin stage.

But Sinner and Alcaraz once again had a season to remember as they took home six and eight titles, respectively. The 24-year-old played 10 finals, while his arch-rival reached 11 title clashes.

They met six times this year, with the four-time Grand Slam champion winning a couple of matches- at Wimbledon and the ATP Finals. The matches against Sinner that ended in Alcaraz’s favor are the Italian Open, French Open, Cincinnati Masters, and the US Open.

Sinner’s win at the ATP Finals improved his head-to-head record over the World No.1 to 6-10. He is also on a 31-match winning streak on indoor hardcourts. Since 2024, they have taken home 26 titles from 35 finals, including the last eight Grand Slam trophies.
