Carlos Alcaraz, who is currently in Puerto Rico for an exhibition match, sat down for an interview for Molusco TV. In this interview, among many topics, he discussed his relationship with his younger brother Jaime, who is 13.
The sport of tennis has seen many siblings make their mark, such as the likes of Venus and Serena Williams, Erika and Mirra Andreeva, Alexander and Mikhail Zverev. At the age of 21, Alcaraz is already a four-time Grand Slam champion.
He was also the youngest man to reach the ATP World No. 1 rank. It is then perhaps not surprising that the media gives a lot of attention to Carlos’ young brother, Jaime, who is also pursuing tennis.
I worry that people might overwhelm him too much. I don’t like people pressuring him just because he’s my brother. He’s too young to be labeled as the ‘next Carlos Alcaraz.’ It’s tough to have those expectations placed on him. For now, he’s doing great, and I’m proud of him. I’m not home much, but when I’m with him, I try to support him, as well as all my siblings.

Now that his brother is traveling nationally and playing tournaments outside of Murcia, their hometown, Carlos Alcaraz remarked that his brother is being followed a lot. He believes that there is a lot of pressure on him from the media, a lot of comparisons are drawn between both of them, with people also often remarking how both of them look very similar too. As an elder brother, he naturally displays a lot of concern about the pressure and expectations being put on Jaime.

Despite the immense fame and success Alcaraz has achieved at a very young age, he wishes that Jaime sees him like an elder brother rather than a big tennis star.
Carlos Alcaraz is set to defend his Indian Wells title
Carlos Alcaraz is one of the stars of the “Battle of Legends” which takes place on 2nd March at the Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In this exhibition match, he will face American Frances Tiafoe. He has previously played an exhibition match with Tiafoe at the Charlotte Invitational as well in December 2024, where they were joined by Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys.

Alcaraz is no stranger to exhibition matches, having appeared at several such events in recent months, a decision for which he often faces much criticism. Last October, he was one of six leading ATP stars competing at the ‘Six Kings Slam’ in Saudi Arabia, reaching the finals where he lost to Jannik Sinner.
Following this exhibition match in Puerto Rico, two-time defending Indian Wells champion Alcaraz will be aiming to complete a desert ‘three-peat’ when the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 event begins next week. This will mark his fourth tournament of the season, with one title already to his name this year, which he won at the Rotterdam Open.
