Tennis titans Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic have had plenty of highlights to look back on in their careers so far. The two former World No. 1s have been in many high-quality battles, including their recent 2025 Australian Open quarterfinal, which the Serb won.

However, Alcaraz mentioned his great rival in a different context. The Spaniard was asked about the best actor on the tennis circuit, and he did not hesitate to name the 24-time Grand Slam champion as the leader of the charts.

Alcaraz and Djokovic are two of the best tennis players in the world. They have also enjoyed a lot of engagements off the court. Their social media fame and recognition make them two of the most popular faces in tennis.

The duo is expected to return to action at Indian Wells. The Spaniard is the two-time defending champion at the event, while Djokovic holds the tied record for the most titles at the BNP Paribas Open, alongside Roger Federer (5).

Carlos Alcaraz set to defend his Indian Wells title

Carlos Alcaraz will aim to win his third straight Indian Wells title at the first ATP Masters 1000 event of the year. However, he might face different conditions this time in California.

Last year, Alcaraz played brilliantly. He defeated Jannik Sinner in a tough semi-final and then beat Daniil Medvedev in the final. In 2023, he was just as strong, winning against Medvedev again in the final.

This year, the court surface at Indian Wells will be different. It will still be an outdoor hard court, but a new company will supply it. The tournament will switch from Plexicushion to Laykold, which could affect the speed and bounce of the ball.

Laykold also provides courts for the US Open and did so for the Abu Dhabi Open last month. They will do the same for the Miami Open soon. Alcaraz enjoyed the old courts at Indian Wells, but he should not worry too much about this change.
