Carlos Alcaraz is one of the best players in the world, with very few players being able to stand shoulder to shoulder with him on the tour right now. However, the Spaniard has mentioned Joao Fonseca as one of the players who could challenge for big titles in the future.

Alcaraz, the current World No.1, did mention that Fonseca needs to work on his mobility to take his tennis career to the next level. Fonseca concluded the season on really well by winning the Swiss Indoors. Alcaraz said as reported by Tennis365:

He’s a special and incredible player. His power is impressive, his serve is very good, which, for me, when I first joined the tour, was what gave me the most trouble. Joao also has a formidable forehand. If I had to name one area for improvement, it would be his mobility. Little by little, he’ll develop in that area and, for me, he’s an exceptional player. After all, it’s his first season on the tour, and I think he’s doing very well.

Fonseca has been tipped by many former and current players to form the new Big 3 alongside Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Although Sinner and Alcaraz have won the biggest prizes, Fonseca is slowly but surely showing his potential on the big stage.

The talent was evident right from the Australian Open this year, where he beat Andrey Rublev in straight sets. He also advanced in the first week of the other Grand Slams, but now needs to get to the second week to establish himself as a contender.
