Carlos Alcaraz has chance to overtake Novak Djokovic in the ATP rankings

With the tour heading closer to the US Open, the rankings play an important role in deciding players’ draw at the Slam. Currently, Jannik Sinner is leading the draw and is less likely to be replaced before the US Open.

However, in No.2, Novak Djokovic is presently there but might be replaced by Carlos Alcaraz soon. The Serbian is currently at 8460 points, ahead of Alcaraz (7950). However, there is the Cincinnati Masters to be played before the American Slam.

Fortunately for Alcaraz, Djokovic has withdrawn from the Masters 1000, leaving the title up for grabs. The 1000 points at stake could be enough to propel Alcaraz to second place in the rankings ahead of the Grand Slam.
