The prospect of another tattoo is on the back of Carlos Alcaraz‘s mind, and it’s all going to depend on the final result of the 2024 Paris Olympics. If he wins, it means he may ink his body with the five Olympic rings to commemorate his first victory at the quadrennial event.
Alcaraz loves to celebrate his first big wins with tattoos. He has four of them already following his wins at the 2022 US Open, 2023 Wimbledon, and 2024 French Open — though one of the tattoos was a tribute to his grandfather. The Spaniard, in fact, recently painted the Eiffel Tower on his left ankle after his first French Open victory.
If I win on Sunday, we will see, but most likely yes. But there is one step left. There is a match that is a great mountain.Carlos Alcaraz said after his semifinal win
The 21-year-old, who is playing in his maiden Olympics, beat Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 6-1 without breaking a sweat. The Canadian will be locking horns with Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the bronze medal match, scheduled to be played on Sunday (August 3).
Novak Djokovic confident of beating Carlos Alcaraz in Olympics final
Novak Djokovic doesn’t have the Olympic gold medal in his trophy cabinet, and he wants it at all costs. Though he won the singles bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he has often expressed his dissatisfaction at not being able to stand at the top of the podium at the Summer Games.
But now he has the chance to do so. His opponent, Carlos Alcaraz, who has been climbing the ladder very quickly and is not showing any mercy to even a legend of a game like Djokovic, will enter the match as a ‘favorite’.
Although Djokovic was beaten easily by Alcaraz in this year’s Wimbledon final, the Serb met the 21-year-old in the semifinals of the French Open last year and emerged victorious in four sets. It is giving Djokovic the much-needed confidence to go for the gold medal.
Although we played once [here], I beat him in the semis, I lost to him in the final of Wimbledon quite comfortably. Different surface… I feel like I’m playing and moving better than I did at Wimbledon, so hopefully I’ll come out and play my best tennis and, in a way, I have nothing to lose as I’ve already secured a medal, so I’m going to go for it.Novak Djokovic said after his semifinal match
Djokovic reached his first Olympic final by beating Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-2.
