Spanish tennis superstar Carlos Alcaraz arrived at the Queen’s Club with full confidence. The 21-year-old had won his third Grand Slam title at Roland Garros two weeks ago and was hoping to defend his Queen’s Club title this week.

However, the Spaniard suffered an early exit at the hands of Britain’s Jack Draper. While Alcaraz would be extremely disappointed with this setback, the emotions would be even higher for his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero. The newly crowned French Open champion spoke to L’Equipe about his coach’s mindset after the early exit from Queen’s Club.

Now I know he's angry to have seen me lose. But we have time ahead of us and I'm very excited about playing the first ever Wimbledon match on Center Court.

However, perhaps the exhausting road to his third Grand Slam title in Paris meant that Queen’s Club was too early for him. Nevertheless, Alcaraz and his coaching staff have no time for excuses as they look forward to the Spaniard’s Wimbledon title defense, starting on July 1st.

Jannik Sinner, recently crowned as the first Italian to reach World No. 1, now aims to solidify his position at the Terra Wortmann Open. Currently, the Italian holds 9,490 live points, giving him a substantial lead of 1,130 points over second-placed Novak Djokovic. Moreover, he has a 1,360 points over Alcaraz.

If Sinner wins the Halle tournament, he could add another 400 points to his tally, widening his lead to 1,530 points over his closest competitors. On the other hand, Alcaraz was the defending champion at Queen’s Club. His early exit means Djokovic surpasses him for No.2 in the ATP rankings.

Looking ahead, Sinner has the advantage of defending fewer points than both Alcaraz and Djokovic at Wimbledon. He will defend only 720 points, compared to 2,000 for Alcaraz and 1,200 for Djokovic.
