The second seed defeated Nicolas Jarry 7-5, 6-1, improving his 2024 record in opening rounds to 13-2. Jarry had beaten Alcaraz in the Buenos Aires semi-final earlier this year, but this time the former World No.1 dominated, converting 80% of his break points, according to Infosys ATP Stats.

In the second set, Jarry put up a fight and challenged Alcaraz in the early stages. However, the Spaniard quickly dialed in, finding his rhythm to secure a one-hour, 30-minute victory.

With this win, Alcaraz moves forward to the second round. He will face either local favorite Ugo Humbert or qualifier Marcos Giron as he aims to advance further in the tournament.
