Carlos Alcaraz got his campaign in Turin underway on November 9. The Spaniard, who is bidding to win his first ATP Finals title, went past Alex de Minaur 7-6(5), 6-2 in his first round robin match of Group Jimmy Connors.
The win helped Alcaraz maintain his perfect head-to-head lead over the Aussie, improving it to 5-0. Later, toward the end of the press conference, former WTA pro Elena Vesnina from BB Tennis, questioned the 22-year-old if he’s single.
I have a question a bit different that’s worrying a lot of girls around the world. Are your heart has been taken?
Elena Vesnina asked
Alcaraz did not understand the question and looked confused. When the Russian repeated the question, Alcaraz declared, “I’m free, I’m free, I’m free” before breaking into a smile.

This is not the first time he has been directly asked whether he is single or dating anyone. Alcaraz has never officially confirmed anything about his dating life, but has often been linked with Maria Gonzalez Gimenez as well as WTA pro Emma Raducanu. The Brit was spotted in the stands watching the six-time Grand Slam champion on multiple occasions, and Alcaraz also asked her to be his partner for the revamped mixed-doubles event at this year’s US Open.
The pair suffered defeats at the hands of Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper in the first round. Most recently, supermodel Brooks Nader claimed she dated both Alcaraz and his arch-rival Jannik Sinner during the US Open.
Carlos Alcaraz on the year-end No.1 ranking
Carlos Alcaraz said he won’t be disappointed if Jannik Sinner ends the ATP Finals in his favor and claims the year-end No.1 ranking. Alcaraz toppled him from the No.1 spot after winning the US Open, but the Italian reclaimed it on the back of consecutive successful runs at the Vienna Open and the Paris Masters.

In the end, I think it’s turning out to be a great battle between Jannik and me to see who finishes as No.1. If he finishes first, it’s because he’s earned it and has had a magnificent end to the season. He won in Vienna, he’s coming off a win in Paris, and if he finishes first, it’s because he would win here, and he deserves it. Obviously, I’m going to try to fight to prevent that from happening. If it does happen, it wouldn’t be a disappointment.
At the Paris Masters, Alcaraz succumbed to a three-set defeat against Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the opening round. While Sinner is bidding to defend the ATP Finals, Alcaraz has never progressed beyond the semifinals.
Jannik Sinner jokes while posing for a photograph with Carlos Alcaraz
Fans can’t stop gushing over the Alcaraz-Sinner rivalry as well as their friendship off the court. From practicing together before the ATP Finals to commenting on each other’s fashion style to calling each other’s name when asked who’s going to be No.1 after this week, fans can’t get enough of their bond.

Ahead of the ATP Finals, when both were told how they should pose for the year-end trophy (both had to hold the handle of the cup and pull it), Sinner joked about Alcaraz’s muscular physique.
Do you really think I am best to fight against this guy? One punch and I’m like this.

Alcaraz and Sinner have played a combined 33 finals since 2024, winning 25 titles, and have split the last eight Grand Slam titles. The six-time Grand Slam champion has lifted eight titles this season from 10 finals, the most on the men’s tour this year, while Sinner won five trophies from nine finals, the second-most this season.
