The finalist of the 2024 French Open is here as Carlos Alcaraz booked the first spot in the most important match of the tournament. After an amazing five-setter against Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz made it to the finals of the French Open for the first time in his career.

However, Alcaraz had a poor start to the match that made him see a few ghosts from the past. The Spaniard struggled to find some momentum at the start and his cramps were not helping him. Restricting his movement, Alcaraz was already down break points and eventually lost the first set.

Last year also, the Spaniard got off to a terrible start against Novak Djokovic due to cramps and was unable to recover from it. Despite winning the next set, he could not keep up with Djokovic and eventually lost the next two sets and the semi-final match.

I saw him struggling a little bit. I was cramping, Jannik as well in the third set. You have to fight. Against Djokovic, I was in the same position, but I learned you have to stay there fighting because the cramp will go away.
said Carlos Alcaraz during the post-match interview.

Luckily, history did not repeat itself and Alcaraz was able to treat his cramps to eventually beat Sinner 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. With this, Alcaraz became the youngest player to have reached the finals on all the surfaces.

Carlos Alcaraz labeled this match as one of the toughest he has played

Carlos Alcaraz was on fire tonight in his semi-final match against Jannik Sinner at the French Open. After a slow start, the Spaniard managed to steady the ship and put up a fight to force a fifth set.

After that, he seemed invincible and did not lose any form, eventually beating Sinner before he could come back. Both the players gave it their all, throughout the match making it one of their best matches so far.

Probably, the toughest matches that I've played in my short career have been against Jannik, the U.S. Open 2022, this one, shows the great player Jannik is.

Now, the Spaniard heads into the finals and will take on Alexander Zverev. The Russian is coming of a dominant win over Casper Ruud.
