Carlos Alcaraz has reportedly added a new member to his coaching team ahead of the 2025 season. The Spaniard has been closely associated with former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero since 2019. However, a series of poor results in the second half of 2024 has prompted him to make changes.

According to reports from Marca, Alcaraz has hired Samuel Lopez, who is also part of Ferrero’s academy in Spain. Lopez was recently let go by Pablo Carreno Busta after a nine-year partnership.

If the reports are accurate, Lopez will officially join Alcaraz’s team at the Rotterdam Open in February. Alcaraz did not participate in this event in 2024, as he competed in the Argentina Open and Rio Open before heading to Indian Wells.

Struggling with indoor conditions recently, the four-time Grand Slam champion aims to improve his performance in 2025. His campaign will begin at the Rotterdam Open, where defending champion Jannik Sinner is also expected to compete.

Alcaraz, at just 21 years old, has already achieved remarkable success. He became the youngest world No. 1 in 2022 and won his first Grand Slam at the US Open that year. His career includes two Wimbledon titles, a Roland Garros trophy, and an Olympic silver medal. In Berlin, he earned eight points for Team Europe.

Fritz had an outstanding 2024 as well. He won a bronze medal in doubles at the Paris Olympics and reached the US Open final. He finished the year as the world No. 4 after a strong showing at the Nitto ATP Finals. Fritz has been a key player for Team World in four Laver Cup editions.

Fritz’s contributions have helped Team World win twice, in 2022 and 2023. He has a solid record of five wins and two losses in the competition. Fans are eager to see these two stars face off again at the 2025 Laver Cup.
