Juan Carlos Ferrero has confirmed that he has indeed signed a contract with a player, though he chose not to reveal the name. Carlos Alcaraz‘s former coach, however, has revealed that the announcement of the same will be made on November 9th.
Ferrero split with Alcaraz last December after failed contract negotiations. He then joined the team of Spanish golfer Angel Ayora.
In a recent interview, Ferrero revealed his decision to come back to coaching a tennis player without revealing the name. And when this sparked discussion about whose entourage he will join next, he clarified in another interview that he had not signed any contract with anyone.
But during his interview with Eurosport Spain, the 2003 French Open champion confirmed that he has finally signed an agreement.
Right now, my goal for next year is to be on the tour. And, well, I can already say that I’ve finalized an agreement with a player. It will be announced on November 9th. Right now, I can’t give any details. Who it will be, whether I’d like to play with them, or not.
Will he join Rafael Jodar‘s team? Ferrero’s answer to this question was, “Obviously, coaching highly talented players is always the goal of any coach. Whether it’s now or whenever.” The 20-year-old, one of the fastest-rising players on the tour, who is competing on the tour for the first time and has already been in contention for the ATP Finals, is currently coached by his father.
What about Alcaraz’s arch-rival Jannik Sinner? Ferrero has never ruled out the possibility of working with the five-time Grand Slam champion in the future, even if it sparks negative reaction from Alcaraz’s fans.
I’ll pass on that. That’s something I’ll keep to myself. Maybe in the distant future I can talk about it. But right now it’s not a possibility.
Juan Carlos Ferrero added
A partnership between Sinner and Ferrero is unlikely to come to pass next year because the Italian ace has reportedly hired Stan Wawrinka‘s coach, Magnus Norman, for the 2027 season. If the reports are true, then Norman will be replacing Aussie coach Darren Cahill, who has been in the entourage of the World No.1 since 2022. Simone Vagnozzi will continue to be a part of Sinner’s team next year.
Carlos Alcaraz doesn’t think he is playing his best tennis
Carlos Alcaraz is competing at the Vienna Open, where, after defeating Karen Khachanov 6-4, 7-6(5), he has scheduled his second-round match against Nikoloz Basilashvili.

At the pre-tournament press conference, the Spaniard once again said he doesn’t think he has been playing to his full potential since his return to the tour following his wrist injury.
I haven’t played many tournaments this year. I need competition, tournaments, and match rhythm to get back to my best level. I’m happy with my game and my current level, but I still feel I’m not quite there yet. My behavior during that time, my determination to recover as quickly as possible, and my mental attitude towards the injury are also important. I don’t feel any pressure because I’m simply myself, both on and off the court.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion injured his wrist in Barcelona and made his comeback at the US Open. After losing to eventual runner-up Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals, Alcaraz won his third title of the season by beating Jiri Lehecka at the Japan Open, also defending his title.
But in Shanghai, the 23-year-old lost in the third round. Alcaraz is competing in Vienna for the first time since 2021. After Vienna, the World No.3, who has already qualified for the ATP Finals, will play at the Paris Masters.
