Carlos Alcaraz playfully demanded Grigor Dimitrov to honor his promise of getting naked if Team Europe won the 2024 Laver Cup. Dimitrov, however, looked shocked that he had agreed to such a bet.
Team Europe was down 4-8 against Team World heading into the third day of the Laver Cup. Alcaraz began the comeback victory for Europe, partnering with Casper Ruud to beat Team World’s Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton 6-2, 7-6(6) in the doubles. Shelton responded for Team World, beating Daniil Medvedev in the second match.
However, Alexander Zverev secured a crucial victory by defeating Shelton 6-7(5), 7-5, 10-5, leaving the title in Alcaraz’s hands. The Spaniard put up a masterclass in performance against Taylor Fritz, winning 6-2, 7-5 to seal victory for Team Europe.
At a press conference later, a reporter asked Dimitrov whether he would fulfill his promise of getting naked after Team Europe’s victory. When he arrived in Berlin, he had promised to get naked if Team Europe won the title. Alcaraz hilariously wanted the Bulgarian to fulfill his promise and joked that the reporter also wanted to see him naked.
She wants to see it. She wants to see it. (Laughter).Alcaraz said

Carlos Alcaraz excited about winning the Laver Cup on his debut
Carlos Alcaraz expressed his excitement at winning the Laver Cup on his debut. The Spaniard won eight of the 13 points for Team Europe, making sure they reclaimed the title after Team World had won it for the last two years.
Well, I was really, really happy, honestly. I mean, obviously our goal was to win the Laver Cup. We did it. So yeah, as I said before the tournament that I think winning the Laver Cup, it is great. And once I did it, it was a pretty good feeling.Carlos Alcaraz said at the press conference
Alcaraz has won three singles titles this season, including two Grand Slams. However, he suffered a dip in form during the North American hard court swing, winning just one match in two tournaments. He gained his confidence at the Davis Cup by helping Spain secure a quarterfinal ticket.
The 21-year-old will hope to continue with the good form at the ATP 500 event in China. The Spaniard failed to win any title during the Asian swing last season, reaching the semifinals of the China Open before losing to Jannik Sinner. He will look forward to winning the title in Beijing this year when the tournament kicks off on September 26.
