One rivalry has always dominated tennis: the rivalry between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer has been one to die for. The two have been the main rivalry of the game, and till now, no other duo has been able to match up to them.
With the newer generation in the sport, a new rivalry has entered the mix and is even compared to that of the Basel and the Mallorcan. The rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, where the youngsters are pushing each other to the limit, produces some of the most entertaining games.
However, the coach of Rafael Nadal Carlos Moya does not think that this rivalry will last as long as the one the original duo had. In a recent interview via Supertennis TV, he shared his opinion about the brewing rivalry.
It is very difficult to predict what will happen in the next ten years, but it is clear that at the moment it is a battle that exists between two great players… But Roger and Rafa, it was a war which lasted 20 years and they were always there.Said Carlos Moya via Supertennis TV
Sinner and Alcaraz have played each other eight times in their five years on tour. They still have a long way to go to match the 40 matches between Federer and Nadal. Currently, both Sinner and Alcaraz are recovering from their respective injuries, and the fans would hope to see more from the duo.
If you ask me about the next three years, it is clear that it will be the big battle, but in ten years a lot of things can happen, new players can appear, new players can get injured, a lot of factors can disrupt this prognosis. They are both great champions, I have no doubt that they will win many Grand Slam tournaments in the future.Continued Moya in the interview.
Jannik Sinner produced one of the best shots of the year in his match against Carlos Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the two to watch out for in this generation of tennis. While they are en route to becoming the next Nadal-Federer, their recent matches have been nail-biters. Their recent matchup at the Indian Wells finals recorded yet another brilliant match.
In that match, there was a shot from Sinner that was arguably one of the best shots of the year. Trying to save his point, Sinner had defended well against Alcaraz, beating him to the punch. This is just the start of their epic rivalry.

Currently, both are recovering from their respective injuries. With Roland Garros in the distance, Alcaraz will surely be there for his home Grand Slam, but Sinner’s participation is still not sure. Fans will hope for more of the brewing rivalry and hopefully get to the level of Federer and Nadal.
