Michael Chandler is undeniably one of the most electrifying fighters on the UFC roster. Despite having more losses than wins in the promotion, his star power remains unaffected. The former Bellator champion thrives on delivering exciting performances and entertaining the crowd. However, at the upcoming UFC 314, he could face tough competition for the post-fight bonus.

Chandler recently crossed paths with rising welterweight Carlos Prates at the Las Vegas press conference for UFC 314. During the conversation, the veteran credited the Brazilian for his recent performances, sharing a wholesome moment. After that, Prates hilariously tried to make a deal with Chandler regarding the bonus awards for the event.

You have good contract. I’m trying to be millionaire in Brazil, so please. Do some submission, don’t knock him out.

Chandler is known for his aggressive fighting style, often biting down on his mouthpiece and trading heavy shots with his opponents. This approach has led to numerous thrilling wars inside the cage and earned him multiple post-fight bonuses. In his six UFC appearances, Chandler has always delivered excitement, taking home a performance or fight bonus each time.

Prates also has a similar record winning the Performance of the Night bonus in all four of his UFC bouts. The ‘Nightmare’ from Brazil has vicious striking prowess, which is enough to put anyone to sleep. It will be interesting to see whether he can manage to achieve the same against veteran Geoff Neal. Similarly, for Chandler, UFC 314 won’t be an easy night.

Former champion predicts Michael Chandler’s fight at UFC 314

Michael Chandler is currently scheduled to fight rising lightweight prospect Paddy Pimblett in the co-main event of UFC 314. Pimblett has already established himself as a star and is eager to move up in the rankings. Beating Chandler would definitely put him in a position to fight the top five fighters in the division.

For Chandler, it is a must win situation and the American fighter is confident about his chances. He is currently on a two-fight losing streak with his last loss coming against Charles Oliveira at UFC 309. The Brazilian recently talked about the fight and shared his prediction, inclining towards Pimblett.

Michael Chandler is a very aggressive and explosive guy. On the other side, you have a younger guy that believes in himself, moves very well and has really good jiu-jitsu and also a good standup game….In the first two rounds, Chandler has a chance to knock him out because of how explosive he is. But if the fight goes into the third round, I believe it’s going to be hard for Chandler.

Ahead of the fight, Pimblett and Chandler have shared multiple jibes at each other making the rivalry more interesting. It is a classic case of veteran experience going against a young talent and many believe that the latter might win. Nevertheless, Chandler, who thrives in chaos, can definitely pull out a knockout and stop the hype train.

Michael Chandler’s weird legacy

Michael Chandler is currently 38-years-old, and is at the last stint of his professional career. The American fighter wasted two years waiting for the Conor McGregor fight, but now is eager to make the most of it. Even though he never won a UFC title, his action-packed fights, highlight finishes make him a fan favorite.

His career is similar to fighters such as Donald Cerrone, an all-action fighter who always delivered but never reached the absolute pinnacle. Being a part of the most competitive division in the promotion doesn’t help him either. It will be interesting to see how the lightweight fighter spends his last chapter in the fight business.
