Carmella comments on current booking of the WWE Women’s division

We have rarely seen any current WWE Superstar speak negatively about the company’s booking in public. But Carmella has gone ahead and done just that. She criticized the way in which WWE is currently booking their women’s division.

WWE recently came under a lot of criticism, when Mickie James revealed that she was sent her WWE belongings in a trash bag. Numerous former WWE Superstars came out and revealed that they had been treated the same way. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon publicly apologized to James and revealed that the staff responsible for the incident had been fired.

Recently, Carmella appeared on Brie and Nikki Bella’s podcast, where she discussed the current WWE bookings.

On The Bellas Podcast, Carmella explained that it wasn’t okay for a three hour show (WWE RAW) to just feature a couple of women or just one major storyline.

“Even, myself, I would sit at home and watch RAW and it would be 10 PM before I would see a woman on the show,” said Carmella. “It’s like, ‘this is a three-hour show. What the hell?’ Even if I’m just a fan, which I am. Like if I didn’t work at WWE and I was just sitting at home watching, I want to see the women. That’s why I tune in. If I’m waiting until 10pm to see a girl, it’s like, ‘what the hell?’ That’s not okay for little girls at home or whoever is watching waiting for the women.”

Carmella also mentioned that she knew that a more prominent female presence was possible. When she was on the 2-hour show (Smackdown), they had 3 women’s storylines. This was way back in 2017, when Carmella was with James Ellsworth. But if WWE has done it in the past, they can manage to do it again.

Carmealla faced Sasha Banks at Royal Rumble

Carmella has rarely been seen on WWE TV in 2021. She last appeared at WWE Wrestlemania 37 Night One. She teamed up with Billie Kay in the Tag Team Turmoil match, but ended up losing to Natalya and Tamina.

Apart from that she has appeared just twice this year, since losing her WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship match against Sasha Banks at WWE Royal Rumble. She had appeared on Smackdown where she suffered a pinfall defeat to Bianca Belair.
