Leah Van Dale, aka Carmella‘s twelve-year stay with WWE came to an unceremonious halt last month. The company decided to not renew her contract after it expired. She has told her side of the story in a lengthy chat on the Barely Famous podcast. Mella claimed that WWE wholly ghosted her after notifying the 37-year-old about her contract being up.
The Princess of Staten Island felt as if she was punished for having a baby. In the meantime, an account on X by the username JobberNationTV seemingly rage-baited on the issue. Based off a preview clip of Mella’s yet-to-be-released interview, the mentioned account claimed that the former WWE star lost her credibility for badmouthing the company.
Citing the examples of Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss, who made successful in-ring comebacks post-pregnancy, the apparent troll asserted that motherhood doesn’t end careers. It also deemed Van Dale expendable for WWE in a phase where other female wrestlers have taken over. After reading such a misguided connotation of her stance on her WWE release, Carmella stood up for herself.

The former Women’s Champion rightfully pointed out that every woman recovers differently after giving birth. In her case, the Untouchable One suffered a drop foot and herniated discs after going through a 60-hour labor, which isn’t normal by any standard. Mella further urged the concerned X account to not make assumptions until the detailed episode of her conversation drops.
Why was Carmella’s husband recently upset with WWE?
Carmella has been through a lot in recent years. Her world crumbled when she had a miscarriage, which was a result of an ectopic pregnancy. The former moonwalking, trash-talking princess finally welcomed her first child with Corey Graves in November 2023.
A few months later, Mella spoke to Chris Van Vliet, revealing how her husband is the best dad. For the unversed, Graves has three children from his previous marriage and one with Mella. He appeared to be in trouble with WWE lately.
The company demoted him to the NXT commentary table from the main roster. It stemmed from Pat McAfee‘s return to the mix once Raw began streaming live on Netflix.The former Colts punter joined Michael Cole, replacing Wade Barrett, who was sent to SmackDown alongside Joe Tessitore.
With that much happening, Corey bore the brunt of it. Consequently, he went on social media to express his dissatisfaction with the move. The posts he made on X were soon deleted. He’s now serving the NXT brand as the color commentator, joining Vic Joseph and Booker T.
