Carmelo Hayes got distracted by Ricky Saints in the final moments of his US title match with Trick Williams on SmackDown.

This week’s SmackDown saw Carmelo Hayes get his long-delayed rematch for the United States Championship. The fans were upset over Hayes dropping the belt just before WrestleMania, the consequences of which saw Melo sit out of the biggest WWE show of the year. A month removed from Mania, the Boston native was able to fetch him a crack at the title.
Melo interrupted Trick Williams and Lil Yachty on SmackDown and talked about Williams screwing him over for the US title in that match against Sami Zayn on the 3/27 edition of SmackDown. ‘The A-Champion’ knew Williams would get the crowd behind him in a hurry, but at the same time, he wanted the South Carolina native to know that there was a big difference between carrying a title and being a champion.

While he didn’t mean to knock on his former ally, Hayes mentioned how when he held the gold for 8 weeks, he won over the fans through his blood, sweat, and tears. ‘The Thriller From New England’ asked Williams to give the people what they wanted, and that was a US title match between the two of them.
After Trick Willy’s aide Lil Yachty tried preventing the match from happening last night, Carmelo Hayes told his ex-Trick Melo Gang member that Trick’s older self wouldn’t have let anyone else dictate terms for him. The champ ultimately agreed to put his title on the line just because he liked Hayes. They went on to have a solid TV match on SmackDown, and their chemistry spoke for itself.

The closing moments of it saw Ricky Saints pop up at ringside, and he distracted Hayes, who was perched on the top rope. Trick followed Hayes to the outside and shoved Saints to the ground. The latter was incensed about it, and he started yelling from the ring apron, thus pulling the referee in.
Hayes had rolled Williams up behind the referee’s back. It didn’t mean anything as senior official Charles Robinson was dealing with Saints. It allowed Trick Williams to drop Carmelo Hayes with the Trick Shot and retain the United States Championship. Melo later ambushed Saints backstage and warned him to stay away from his business.
Blake Monroe made her SmackDown debut this week
WWE had Blake Monroe debut on this week’s SmackDown in a backstage segment. She finally made it to the screen after weeks of vignettes hyping her arrival ran their course. ‘The Glamour’ bumped into Chelsea Green backstage; the two posed for a second, and Blake introduced herself to Green.

The former AEW star said she saw Green out there and hoped it didn’t happen. ‘The Hot Mess’ earlier helped Tiffany Stratton retain her Women’s US title against Lash Legend. Green drove Legend’s aide, Nia Jax‘s, face first into the ring post. It distracted Legend, who went to pull Green’s hair at ringside but instead got rolled up by Stratton.

Because of that, Jax and Legend ambushed Chelsea right after her interaction with Monroe backstage. Jax made fun of Green trying to make more friends. It would be interesting to see if WWE pairs Blake Monroe with Chelsea Green as a follow-up to this. The erstwhile Mariah May does have added equity tied to her name due to her previous association with AEW.
The wrestling fans have seen what she’s capable of and are therefore hoping that WWE makes the most of her. Even though she received a lukewarm reaction on this week’s SmackDown, the fans might start rallying behind her as she continues making her presence felt on SmackDown every week.
