Patrick Mahomes sets the bar high for every quarterback in the league and Carson Wentz discovered that after training with him during the Kansas City Chiefs’ OTAs. The 28-year-old wouldn’t have won three Super Bowls if he lacked the skills and the imagination on the field.
Mahomes gives his 100% whether it’s training at the Chiefs facility or on game day. His energy level rubs off on the quarterbacks who have backed him over the years.
From Chad Henne to Matt Moore, all have performed when called upon because the standards are always high under head coach Andy Reid. The Chiefs now have Carson Wentz as the primary backup to Patrick Mahomes.
Wentz previously revealed being QB 2 of Mahomes is an intriguing prospect. Now that he has spent a few weeks training alongside the 3-time NFL MVP, the 31-year-old realized why he is so good.
He [Patrick Mahomes] just processes the game really quick. You can see that coming in. But he calls protections, he's in and out of the huddle, he's throwing anticipatory throws, like all that stuff. in some respect, just see different windows on plays that maybe you didn't see before.Carson Wentz said on Friday after practice

The Chiefs had to wait a year to secure Wentz’s signature. They lost out to the Los Angeles Rams but as soon as he hit the free agency market, they picked him up.
Carson Wentz is adjusting to life in Kansas City
Wentz is in his fifth team in five years. Going from sunny LA to the winter wonderland of Kansas City is no joke. The food is different, the lifestyle is very different given the harsh environment, but the Super Bowl LII winner is slowly adapting to the surroundings.
A big reason behind the process is his family and the fans.
I love it. The cultures, values, everything that me and my wife, our family stand on make us feel right at home. I’ve played at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium a couple of times, and I appreciate the fanbase now on my side. So, it’s [definitely] been a cool city [in six weeks].Carson Wentz said
It should not take the former No. 2 overall pick to pick up the Chiefs’ playbook. He has played under former Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson for five years at the Philadelphia Eagles. So, it should be easier for him to learn coach Reid’s West Coast offense.
