Cathy Kelley tricks Rhea Ripley in German (via WWE and @wrestlingecc/X)
WWE backstage interviewer Cathy Kelley has a highly playful relationship with Rhea Ripley, and the two can often be seen joking around on social media. In their most recent antic, the backstage TV personality took up the task of teaching The Eradicator some German during their time in Germany for the Bash in Berlin PLE.
Cathy Kelley posted a video of herself teaching Ripley certain German phrases. The backstage TV personality has some European roots herself and is of Austrian and Irish descent. The former Women’s World Champion continued to repeat the sentences after her friend despite not knowing what they meant. Several members of the WWE Universe later pointed out that the 35-year-old had tricked Mami into saying that she loved her and that she was her wife.
The duo has had a running joke that they were in a relationship for multiple years, which started when they were in NXT. Over the summer of 2023, Kelley stated that she had broken up with her girlfriend and even changed her X bio to “Rhea’s ex.”
Kelley and Ripley also share a strong bond behind the scenes and in front of fans. The 35-year-old has defended her friend from haters multiple times on social media in the past.
Rhea Ripley responds to Zelina Vega claiming that they are not friends
An internet fan recently re-uploaded an old throwback video of Zelina Vega having a meal with Rhea Ripley in the WWE Network special, Table for 3. The two female superstars can be seen chatting and having a good time as they eat their food. The video picked up some traction on social media and even reached the Puerto Rican star herself.
The fan pointed out in the caption of the post that the two superstars were great friends, and he thoroughly enjoyed the conversation between the two. Zelina Vega replied, saying that they were not friends and demanded the video to be taken down. Ripley saw this reply and decided to take a shot at the LWO member.
Ripley replied with a photo of her brutally pinning the inaugural Queen of the Ring during a match they had on Raw. Furthermore, these two superstars share a lot of history in the ring. Most recently, these rivals took each other on in Vega’s home country of Puerto Rico at Backlash 2023, where she challenged The Eradicator for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Unfortunately for her, the Australian had no trouble retaining her title.
