CeeDee Lamb doesn’t need a second invitation to be motivated about an NFL fixture. However, the upcoming tie against the New York Giants carries great significance in the star wide receiver’s books.
Lamb racked up seven catches for 110 yards in week one. His performance mattered little in the outcome as the Dallas Cowboys succumbed to a defeat against the reigning champions. Without brooding over the loss, Lamb and the Cowboys turned their attention to their next opponent. The Giants arrive in Arlington on the back of a defeat to last season’s NFC finalists.
Both the Cowboys and the Giants are aiming to get back to winning ways. Lamb has extra motivation in facing the Big Apple team. He wants to settle the score with Dru Phillips. Lamb said on Thursday:
He tackled me and hurt me, so I’ve got something for him… For sure.

These two divisional rivals met in week 13 last year. Phillips tackled Lamb to the ground, re-aggravating his injured shoulder. He did not return to the game. The Cowboys won 27-20, but lost a valuable asset.

Lamb has a chip on his shoulder going into Sunday’s clash. He went 100 yards against the Eagles but could have easily had more. The 26-year-old wideout dropped four catches (three in the fourth quarter) in the 24-20 loss and leads the league in drops since making his debut in 2020.

The Giants, on the other hand, struggled a great deal against the Washington Commanders. Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson upset star receiver Malik Nabers with a poor debut game, initiating the demands for rookie Jaxson Dart’s inclusion on the starting roster.
Wilson will continue to lead the Giants until Brian Daboll decides to go with Dart. As for the Cowboys, quarterback Dak Prescott had an above-average start to the year, completing 21 passes from 34 attempts for 188 yards. This was Prescott’s first since losing to the Atlanta Falcons in November 2024. Prescott is ready to feed Lamb as many passes as he can. Prescott told the reporters:
I’m not gonna stop throwing you the ball. That’s a game, bro.’ Same thing I told y’all. It wasn’t the best day. It wasn’t the best day for CeeDee. It’s understandable. It happens. Hell, I’ve had them, right? We’ve all had them.
Prescott missed a chunk of 2024 after undergoing surgery to fix a partial avulsion of his right hamstring. He played only eight games, recording a 64.7% pass completion (second lowest of his NFL career). He added:
I’m not gonna lose confidence in. And so don’t worry, just keep approaching the way that you’re approaching, and you’re going to have a bounce back and many of them.
Lamb missed two games because of his bad shoulder, but still racked up 1194 yards from 101 catches. This was his fourth straight 1000-yard campaign, and he is currently en route to a fifth.
Dak Prescott is on a 13-game winning streak against the NY Giants.

With a win on Sunday, Prescott would stand alone in second-place for consecutive QB wins against one team (14).

Both Prescott and Lamb hold impressive records against the Giants. The Pro Bowl shot caller boasts a 13-2 record with 3915 yards and 29 touchdowns, while Lamb amassed 61 catches for 859 yards and 10 touchdowns against the G-Men.
