Chad Gable reveals his dream opponent

WWE wrestler Chad Gable recently drop the in-ring name of Shorty G. Gable appeared on WWE’s After the Bell with Corey Graves, where he discussed his career as a single’s wrestler. He also hails his King of the Ring match as the highlight of his WWE career.

Gable points out that King of the Ring was the opportunity that he was waiting for. Prior to that, Gable had no storyline going on for him. He was being booked for matches that were just one-off things. King of the Ring gave him the opportunity to showcase his real talent.

Gable was the clear underdog in the tournament. Fans had expected him to be eliminated in the first round itself. But Gable managed to reach till the business end of the tournament.

Rivalry with Corbin

Chad Gable realized that he has great in-ring chemistry with Corbin during their NXT days. Additionally, Corbin being a Heel helped the overall storytelling of King of the Ring tournament.  

“I like the guy but I hate him, but I knew we’d have a great match. For the story we were telling of me being the short, small, underutilized guy; he’s the perfect foil for that, and so, it was this match I’m so proud of in the finals.”

Corbin emerged victorious in the tournament, but despite his loss, Gable too came out strong from the match. This led to his run as Shorty G, which wasn’t what he wanted but was happy with the opportunity. But over time, Gable has again started getting far from the limelight. This is what pushed him to begin a new chapter by dropping the Shorty G gimmick. 

Gable’s long term goal is to win the WWE Universal Championship someday. But he also feels, that the WWE Intercontinental Championship is the realistic goal for a wrestler of his size. He also expressed his desire to wrestle Daniel Bryan someday. “He’s the guy that I’ve been waiting so long to finally get this opportunity to tear the house down with.”
