The 2020 Olympic silver medalist boxer wanted to keep his winning momentum stretching. However, it ended rather unceremoniously. Both men went completely off the ring. The crash appeared to leave both men dazed. It was Whittaker who had trouble getting up and suffered what looked like a serious lower leg injury. There’s no telling how much hard the boxer would go on himself after the shortcoming. But it was something while it lasted.

There was some confusion as to whether the result was a “no contest” or a technical decision. Subsequently, it went to the cards and the judges scored the fight a draw. It seemed appropriate given how successful both men were early on. Until the split draw the cards were – 58-57 – Whittaker/ – 58-57 – Cameron/ and another – 58-58. As such, the matter has gone quite viral.

Trip hazards are always a thing in the square ring. However, the timing of the injury, coming when Whittaker was at his worst, gave some fans the impression he was looking for a way out. To some, it looked as if Whittaker was giving up and using the injury as a way of avoiding defeat.

Liam Cameron was coming on from the third round, working well in pockets after all. Many fans have consequently voiced as such. However, others have hinted that there was still a lot of fight left in both of them. So hopefully a rematch can be set up when Whittaker has recovered. All in all, this trip hazard will be a tale for days.
