Karl Anthony-Towns joining the New York Knicks will help them win an NBA title, feels Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.
Charles Barkley loves New York Knicks trade for Karl Anthony-Towns
Up until a few weeks ago, the New York Knicks had a team worthy of competing for the NBA title. However, some fans and analysts had their concerns, especially with the way the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers constructed their rosters.
However, the Karl-Anthony Towns trade has made Charles Barkley change his opinion about the New York Knicks. The Hall of Famer admitted that the addition of Karl-Anthony Towns has made the Knicks have a team that can contend with the best of the best.
The former league MVP suggested that before this trade, he was not sure if the New York Knicks could beat the Philadelphia 76ers or the Boston Celtics in a playoff series. He felt the losing backup center Isaiah Hartenstein was too big a hit for the Knicks.
Barkley felt they lost the grit needed at the low post position. With Towns as the prime big man, the Knicks will force opposing teams to experiment with defensive assignments, and that could work in their favor.
Karl Anthony-Towns shines in win against former team
The New York Knicks played their third preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Madison Square Garden. The NBA’s Western Conference finalists visited the Big Apple to face their former player.
Karl-Anthony Towns did not disappoint when going up against his former front-court teammate Rudy Gobert. He finished with a double-double and set the tone defensively with three steals and 16 rebounds. That effort helped them win this close battle against his former team. It must be noted that the Minnesota Timberwolves have not yet brought in Julius Randle in a game
Meanwhile, the growing presence of sports betting in the NBA has added excitement for fans, with many enjoying offers like free casino bonuses during broadcasts. Such add ons add an extra layer of engagement as fans follow the Knicks’ potential championship run.
Barkley’s faith in the Knicks continues to grow, with the team showing promise in their preseason games. All eyes are now on the Knicks as they prepare for a season that could see them contend for their first NBA title in decades.
