The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series All-Star race at North Wilkesboro won’t be remembered for the historic win from Joey Logano leading 199 of 200 lap race. Instead, it will be infamous for the post-race fight between Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. where the latter punched the veteran on the face during confrontation over a wreck on lap two.
Despite using the videos of the fight for PR heavily, NASCAR didn’t take the incident softly. They imposed a whopping $75,000 fine on the No:47 Chevy driver. But the severity of the fine didn’t sit well with everyone including 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott. He doesn’t agree with the hefty fine considering how NASCAR used the fight for premotions.
75? Thousand? Wow. I know that he got fined, but 75 grand. Yeah, that’s a lot. A lot of money. That seems wild to me… You’re going to fine him, but you’re going to promote with it? What are we doing? That’s a little strange to me. That’s a lot of money to fine a guy. It’s not OK, but we’re gonna blast it all over everything to get more clicks. I don’t really agree with that.Chase Elliott said at Charllotte.
The six times most popular driver award winner isn’t the only driver to make this point. Trackhosue Racing’s Daniel Suarez also had similar comments about the penalty. Ex-RCR driver Elliott Sadler even branded NASCAR call as double standard. Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. also felt that the penalty was too much.
Chase Eliott is having fun seeing teammate Kyle Larson at Indy 500
The Coco Cola 600 weekend is a really important one for the HMS garage as Kyle Larson is doing “The Double” with racing in the Indy 500 for Arrow McLaren. Being a teammate and close friend, Chase Elliott is keeping up with everything happening at Indy and how his teammate is performing.
Yeah, I've tried to keep up, for sure. It's been fun to watch, what I have been able to keep up with. It seems like they've been doing a great job at Indy.Chase Elliott said.
He is looking forward to seeing his championship winning teammate challenge for wins. At the same time, he also a double duty as well, as he is racing in the Xfinity Series race at Charlotte. He would be hoping to make the team proud there as well.
