Chelsea owner Todd Boehly ‘tried to offer’ a £480k-a-week contract to Cristiano Ronaldo against Thomas Tuchel’s wishes: Reports

Todd Boehly and Cristiano Ronaldo

According to transfer source Dean Jones, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is “tempted to make an offer” that would result in Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Manchester United for Stamford Bridge.

Boehly had a key part in the negotiations of acquisitions during the summer season and oversaw a £4.25 billion buyout of the west Londoners in May.

At the weekend, Ronaldo made his way back into Manchester United‘s starting lineup, but things did not go as planned as he was unable to prevent his present employers from suffering a humiliating 4-0 loss at Brentford.

The Portuguese forward’s desperation to go for greener pastures is well known, and he has formally requested that the Red Devils administration grant his wish in the event that a competitive offer is made.

What is Cristiano Ronaldo’s future?

After meeting with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes and discussing a prospective transfer to Chelsea, the development happened.

Despite Manchester United’s assurance that their icon is not for sale, it is claimed that the west Londoners have been investigating a transfer.

Ronaldo is eager to leave Old Trafford because he wants to play in the Champions League and the Red Devils’ sixth-place performance in the Premier League last year was insufficient to guarantee qualification.

Jones is aware that Boehly is debating whether or not to challenge Manchester United’s determination by entering into negotiations. The Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel, however, is not especially eager to complete the deal and is skeptical of where Ronaldo would integrate into the Blues’ system, according to the transfer insider.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s definitely tempted to make an offer if no one else is going in for Ronaldo and I can understand why, to some extent.

“But when you see the way that Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz play in that frontline, Ronaldo just doesn’t fit, so I’m on Tuchel’s side on that one.”
