Chelsea effortlessly went past a fragile Everton side, putting six past Jordan Pickford at Stamford Bridge. The Blues, spearhead by Cole Palmer showed no signs of fatigue or weakness as they climbed to ninth spot in the Premier League table. However, an incident in the build-up to Chelsea’s fifth goal of the night forced fans to drop their heads in ‘shame’.

It is no secret that Cole Palmer is the designated penalty taker for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side. While fans expected the youngster to take the spot kick, the unexpected happened when Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson got into a tussle. Initially, Madueke was seen snatching the ball from Jackson, insisting that he will take the penalty.

After confusion ensued for the larger part of a minute, along came Cole Palmer to take the penalty. While Palmer asked for the ball from Madueke, it was Conor Gallagher that eventually snatched the ball from Madueke.

Palmer also had to push away a rushing Nicolas Jackson who came to snatch the ball. All in all, a regrettable and shameful moment outlined the 6-0 win for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Fans react to Chelsea players arguing to take a penalty

No team should have to see their players arguing over who should take a penalty mid-game. While Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson proceeded to make laughing stocks out of themselves, many fans questioned whether there was a rift in the Chelsea dressing room. It is understood that every team has designated penalty takers.

Many found it concerning and shameful that players disobeyed the manager’s choice in front of their own fans. While many blamed Madueke and Jackson, a few felt that Palmer could have easily given the penalty to one of his teammates. However, the face that Palmer had the chance to go joint top scorer further complicated things.

A fan said that Chelsea has now fallen from fighting for trophies to players fighting for penalties. Several comments bashed the players for being unprofessional while many more had a go at the players, calling for them to be fined. After all the disappointing and poor results from the Blues, the penalty incident proved to be the last straw for many frustrated fans.
