Premier League: Chelsea vs Wolves Player Ratings as Chelsea continue to struggle

Chelsea vs Wolves: Chelsea squared off against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium in Matchday 18 of the ongoing edition of the Premier League.
Chelsea drew 0-0 with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday evening. Wolves gave the European champions a tough fight and got a well-deserved point. This was a match Thomas Tuchel didn’t want to play due to a depleted squad. Daniel Podence had the ball in the back of the net but Raul Gimenez was declared offside. Marcos Alonso came close and hit the post. Then Christian Pulisic had the best opportunity for Chelsea but Jose Sa made a big strong save.

Chelsea

Eduoard Mendy (6/10)- Eduoard Mendy had hardly anything to do in the game. Leander Dendoncker got the header in the first half but it was straight at him and wasn’t that difficult to save.
Antonio Rudiger (6/10) – The German international made a bad challenge on Raul Gimenez in the first half which earned him a yellow card. He made a good clearance after Traore had run in behind.
Thiago Silva (7/10)- The Brazilian international was strong in defense tonight. He was up for the physical duels with Raul Gimenez. Thiago Silva looked composed and one of the best players on the pitch.
Cesar Azpilicueta (5.5/10)- Thomas Tuchel’s tactics didn’t come off at all in the first half and Cesar Azpilicueta’s faulty positioning was a direct result of this. The defender was constantly under pressure from the wingers
Marcos Alonso( 6/10)- The Spanish international hit the post at the start of the second half after the combination play with Hakim Ziyech. He took a deflection off Sa and the ball rattled the near post.
N’golo Kante (7.5/10)- N’golo Kante made a decisive run into the heart of the Wolverhampton Wanderers defense and released Christian Pulisic. However, the American couldn’t round up the goalkeeper. A very good return from the French international.
Trevoh Chalobah (6/10)- The youngster was started ahead of the likes of Ross Barkley and Saul Niguez. He was confident on the ball but made a poor challenge on Raul Gimenez.
Reece James (7/10)- Reece James had the chance to open the scoring after a lovely through ball over the top from N’golo Kante but couldn’t control the ball. He was strong in possession and delivered some great crosses.
Mason Mount (6.5/10)- Mason Mount had a rather quiet first half today and could hardly be seen. However, he combined well with Reece James in the second half and created some half-decent opportunities.
Hakim Ziyech (6/10)– The forward for Chelsea set up a good opportunity for Marcos Alonso in the second half who hit the post. Other than that he wasn’t very present in the Chelsea attacks.
Christian Pulisic(6/10)- The American international had a great opportunity in the first half after the through ball from N’golo Kante. However, he took too long and delivered a poor cross in the end. He had the best chance after going through but was denied by Sa.
Substitute-
Saul Niguez (6/10)- The midfielder came on at the start of the second half. He replaced Trevoh Chalobah who had got a knock in the first half.
Matteo Kovacic (6.5/10)-. A strong return to the Premier League for the Croatian international. He wasn’t afraid to take on the Wolves defenders and made some good inroads.
Wolves

Jose Sa (7/10)- The Wolverhampton Wanderers shot-stopper made a brilliant save off his left hand in the second half. Christian Pulisic had gone through and was one on one but managed to deny him brilliantly.
Matthew Kilman (6/10)- Matthew Kilman made a great block after a dangerous cross from Reece James. Christian Pulisic was creeping up behind but he managed to turn the ball away.
Conor Coady (6.5/10)-. Conor Coady put in some strong challenges in the first half. He had a little injury worry after his tackle on Christian Pulisic.
Romain Saiss (7/10)- An impressive outing from the defender tonight as he was very calm under some good Chelsea pressure. He was able to be in the right places at the right times.
Joao Moutinho (6/10)- Joao Moutinho was very much involved in the goal which was declared offside in the first half. He spread the ball out to Marcal who crossed the ball into Daniel Podence.
Ruben Neves (6.5/10)- Ruben Neves was creating some great chances in the match as he looked to penetrate the Chelsea defense. However, he couldn’t release Gimenez after a great gap was created.
Ki- Jana Hoever (6.5/10)- The youngster was given an opportunity to start tonight and looked hungry for it. He was constantly pressing the Chelsea defense and trying to win the second ball.
Leander Dendoncker (6.5/10)- Dendoncker missed a massive opportunity in the first half after the lovely clipped ball by Podence. However, he managed to head the ball right into the path of Eduoard Mendy.
Marcal (7/10)- An excellent first half from Marcal who was constantly in the run and looking to get behind the Chelsea defense. He gave Cesar Azpillecueta plenty to think about.
Daniel Podence (7/10)- The Portuguese international was one of the brightest players on the pitch in the first half. He even had the ball in the back of the net but it was declared offside in the build-up play.
Raul Gimenez (6.5/10)- The striker for Leeds United was strong upfront and also won the aerial duels. His positioning was a bit at fault for the offside goal in the first half but other than that he was good.
Substitute
Adama Traore (6/10)- The forward was brought on in the second to trouble the Chelsea defense with his pace. However, he wasn’t that effective and hardly saw the ball.
