Breaking News: the Kansas City Chiefs have officially released defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs following his felony domestic violence arrest.

Earlier this month, the Chiefs’ defensive tackle was taken into custody for the second time in a month, on serious charges of burglary and domestic violence. NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported that Buggs was booked into Tuscaloosa County (Ala.) Jail last week but later released posting a bond of $5,000.

However, his bond was revoked, and Buggs was arrested again. He has been charged with felony domestic violence and burglary after being arrested on Sunday. Pelissero also reported that Buggs has been released by the reigning Super Bowl champion.

KMBC 9 obtained court documents which revealed that the mother of Buggs’ child made a call to 911 informing that a 27-year-old had broken into her house and confronted her by coming into her bedroom. The police have also recovered video footage of this incident in support of the woman’s statement.

The woman also alleged that Buggs used force on her to drag her downstairs, leaving scratch marks on her wrist. He fled the scene when the woman threatened to call the police.

The police got hold of the NFL player in the parking lot of the Little Caesars restaurant and then placed him under arrest for the second time this month, in Alabama.

Isaiah Buggs’ previous misdemeanor animal cruelty charge

Last month, in May, the Chiefs defensive player turned himself in to the Tuscaloosa County jail on the charges of misdemeanor animal cruelty, after an animal control officer found two dogs locked in his property.

As per the court’s documents, the dogs were “severely malnourished, emaciated and neglected” along with the allegations that the dogs did not belong to Buggs.

After his draft selection in 2019 by the Pittsburgh Steelers, he played three seasons with them before joining the Chiefs as a practice squad player. The Chiefs signed him into an extension earlier in February as he entered his sixth NFL season. However, Isaiah Buggs didn’t appear in any game for the reigning Super Bowl champions.
