The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the most consistently good teams in the NFL. A major reason for that was when they promoted Howie Roseman take full charge on decisions, as two years until that move, player decisions were made by former head coach Chip Kelly. Many have often discussed those tumultuous times. But Eagles greats LeSean McCoy, Brandon Graham and others revealed recently what it was actually like under the now-Ohio State offensive coordinator.

McCoy and fellow Eagles legend DeSean Jackson got together on the 25/10 Show to talk about all things concerning their former proving grounds. In that discussion, when talking about Chip Kelly, Jackson called former players to ask what they felt about their former head coach.

Bulls**t a** guy man.
LT Jason Peters said
He was very selfish. Didn’t want to give up too much power and lead.
Brandon Graham quipped
Trash.
WR Jeremy Maclin added

This was nothing but mutual feelings for Chip Kelly, just expressed differently. The responses from all three suggest that none of them liked being coached by the offensive wizard.

Chip Kelly was notorious in handling players. The most common criticism which has come from the likes of DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy was that he was racially motivated in his handling of players. Those allegations haven’t slipped out of the minds of Eagles fans as they saw their team disintegrate.

In fact, Jackson made it clear that it was Kelly who is responsible for breaking up a team full of Eagles greats. Kelly shipped out or allowed him and a few others to move on. Else they could have been a part of the 2018 Super Bowl winning squad. That’s why, after firing Kelly, Roseman took over.

Howie Roseman fixed Chip Kelly’s mistakes to make Eagles Super Bowl contenders

The Philadelphia Eagles teams of 2013 and 2014 had stars into every position group. After Kelly’s handling ensured some of those players moved on, his disastrous second season led him to be fired. Then, Howie Roseman took the reins of the team. He was to take all the decisions regarding personnel and players.

That led to the famous Philly Special laced Super Bowl win in 2018. But prior to that, Roseman had laid the groundwork of a championship contending team. The results of which are still evident to this day. The Philadelphia Eagles lost the Super Bowl two years ago but are again one of the favorites to win it this year.

If only owner Jeffrey Lurie hadn’t allowed Kelly to have control over player decisions, the Philadelphia Eagles could have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL over the past decade. But now, it is not late, as the Eagles have a chance to create another decade of elite play.
