This past Monday night on Raw, Becky Lynch seemingly bid adieu to the WWE Universe for the time being. She frittered away an opportunity to regain the Women’s World title against Liv Morgan in a steel cage match. And that, ladies and gentlemen, was The Man’s swansong under her current WWE contract that’s set to expire on June 1. Does she go to AEW from here? Chris Jericho has his say on the matter.
In a sit-down conversation with TMZ, Jericho alluded to the fact that Becky’s got options. If one had turned the calendar five years ago, she’d have had no other choice but to stay with WWE. However, now that there’s no such thing as Hobson’s choice, she might opt for something different. Though Y2J affirmed that he doesn’t mean that Lynch will end up in AEW, there’s always a glimmer of hope.
The 53-year-old cited himself, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, and others who’ve jumped ship from WWE to AEW that no one saw coming in the first place. The reigning FTW Champion said that now, whenever there’s a bidding war, it always benefits the wrestler. In a nutshell, Chris Jericho didn’t say much about Becky Lynch‘s potential switch to AEW; other than that, there’s a chance.
No one thought that Jericho would come to AEW. No one thought that Moxley would come or Bryan Danielson or Adam Cole or any of these guys that have come over. So it's exciting for the fans. It's exciting for the wrestlers, the talent, because now suddenly if there's a bidding war that just benefits us.Chris Jericho via TMZ
One might think that the Irish Lass Kicker is a WWE lifer. However, they’ve been mistaken in that sense, given that the former Sasha Banks, who rechristened herself to Mercedes Mone, is now a top prospect in Tony Khan‘s promotion. Will the 37-year-old follow in Mone’s footsteps? There’s a lot that needs to be answered, but it would take time.
How did Becky Lynch react to heartbreaking loss on Raw?
Had there been nothing like social media in 2024, no one would’ve even been cognizant of Becky Lynch’s contact expiration. But given that most of the people had already gobbled up the reports, they could see how sullen Big Time Becks was on Raw this week.
Her languid demeanor was as clear as daylight. And after she lost to Liv Morgan, the former couldn’t help but keep her head down in dismay. After the show, she took to X and posted a photo of herself walking out of the arena, with the caption reading that it would be continued.
Lynch has been in talks with WWE over her contract renewal, but the deal has yet to be closed. It’s believed that the real-life Rebecca Quin is set for a prolonged time off from being an in-ring talisman to focus on her 3-year-old daughter and an injured husband in Seth Rollins.
