Mike Hesson, the Director of Cricket at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) said that South African all-rounder Chris Morris is unlikely to play the match against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2020 match at Dubai today.

Morris had missed the first two RCB games due to a side strain. The strain will now keep him out for RCB’s third game as well.

Speaking on the day of the match, Hesson said in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of RCB, “The mood’s good, we have spent time reflecting on our performance against KXIP, we obviously do not accept that as our standard, we have been training with a purpose. Morris is progressing really well but he is unlikely to play the match against Mumbai. He is one guy who we would love to have back as he gives the side a right balance.”

RCB’s head coach Simon Katich also said that in the absence of Morris, RCB is struggling to find balance in their line-up.

“We will look at things, when we first looked to pick our team at the start of the tournament, Chris Morris was a part of it, he balances our side and it has become a little more difficult to balance the things at the moment,” he said.

RCB have played two matches in the IPL so far. They have won one and lost the other. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their first match but suffered a 97-run hammering at the hands of Kings XI Punjab in their second. RCB will want to bounce back from the defeat with a win against Mumbai Indians (MI) tonight.
