After LeBron James, Chris Paul is the only other 40-year-old still playing in the NBA. He has been a part of 7 teams so far and has built a legacy of being one of the best point guards to ever ply his trade in the league.
Last season, he had hoped to do something good by mentoring Victor Wembanyama and the young San Antonio Spurs players. This season, they are moving ahead with their core, leaving Paul without a role in their plans.
He was courted by several teams, especially those who wanted the 20-season veteran to impart his knowledge to younger players. However, the superstar is on his swansong and has decided to return to the city where his family is settled.
He signed a one-year deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers, the team that was responsible for some of his greatest moments as a basketball player. When he sat inside the Intuit Dome’s media house, franchise fans greeted him with loud cheers of ‘CP3’.

That was a reminder of what he means to them after giving those fans some of the most exciting basketball the franchise has seen in its existence. Chris Paul was moved to tears by those chants, and he could not gather himself to speak.
It was their appreciation for one of the franchise’s greatest players. They know he will not be able to return them to their ‘Lob City’ days, but understand he is coming in to help them in their quest to become champions.
This might not be Chris Paul’s last season in the NBA
Before finalizing the decision on his next team, Chris Paul told Jemele Hill that the 2025-26 season would be his last. Then, when he signed with the Clippers, fans believed this was the perfect way to say goodbye to the sport he loves. However, it might not be the case.
I don’t know that. More than anything, this season, I would definitely enjoy it.
Chris Paul told Malika Andrews on SportsCenter
The 12-time All-Star is grateful for getting the chance to return to his family. He knows he can now have more time with his children, and wants to see how it all pans out as the season progresses.
If Paul gets the feeling that he can continue beyond this season, he will. Now he does not have to think about his family and what they need. He will have the time to rethink everything and take it one step at a time.

The Los Angeles Clippers are looking to fight for a championship and have already made the moves necessary to enable them to do so. If they do, then it could be the perfect way to end what has been an illustrious Hall of Fame career.
Chris Paul has unfinished business with James Harden
Returning to the Los Angeles Clippers means Chris Paul gets reunited with former Houston Rockets teammate James Harden. Even though there are countless rumors about how the former was not happy with Harden, it seems the situation has changed.

We definitely know we have unfinished business, so we get a chance to see what’s going on here.
Chris Paul told Tomer Azarly
This was the 40-year-old’s response to Tomer Azarly’s reference to a clip from Paul and Harden’s time with the Rockets, where the two were seen arguing. The newest Clipper reiterated that those arguments are what made them a good team.
I asked Chris Paul about his relationship with James Harden, who he says he’s had conversations with and is looking forward to teaming up with him on the Clippers.

In this edition of the Paul and Harden pairing, the team will now have to shuffle point guard duties between the two. It is a good problem to have as Paul probably accepts the situation that he will not be starting.
He will take on the role that Russell Westbrook had when he was with this team. Paul will be tasked with taking control of the bench to ensure they can maintain leads and continue to fight back from deficits in the most crucial moments.
