Red Bull has officially lost their lead in the Constructors’ Championship to McLaren following their struggles at the Azerbaijan GP. Max Verstappen was out-qualified by Sergio Perez, who then crashed on the penultimate lap and returned home empty-handed.
Despite this setback, team principal Christian Horner remained optimistic, asserting that the title hopes are not over until the final race of the season. He was confident that Red Bull could still close the gap in Constructors.
Horner explained that their approach had shifted from defending their position to actively chasing for the title with their rivals. This change in strategy had left them putting in extra effort and resources to improve their performance.
We're pushing hard. We're now not defending, we're chasing. It changes the dynamic again, and we're just going to throw everything at it.Christian Horner said (via RacingNews365)
The 50-year-old said that with seven races and two sprint races remaining in the season, the championship race is far from finished, with even Max Verstappen asserting the same recently. Horner pointed out that there were different types of circuits left in the calendar where the team could capitalize and take maximum points.
We've still got seven races and two sprint races to go. There are a lot of points up for grabs, and a lot of different circuits coming up. So it's far from over.Christian Horner added
Christian Horner claims Red Bull needs to attack aggressively after losing the Constructors lead to rivals
Max Verstappen’s fifth-place finish was the only points Red Bull earned at the Azerbaijan GP, giving McLaren a clear lead in the Constructors’ Championship. Despite this setback, Christian Horner is not ready to give up on Red Bull’s chances.
Horner acknowledged that the team has taken a significant blow, trailing by 20 points. The Briton emphasized that they need to be attacking aggressively to close the gap and snatch the lead back.
We have taken a big hit in the constructors', We've got 20 points as a deficit now, so we have to attack.Christian Horner expressed (via RacingNews365)
In the upcoming races, Red Bull need to push harder and concentrate on maximizing their points. With a 20-point deficit, there is still a chance to close the gap. Fans are hopeful that the team will overcome the recent challenges and make a strong comeback.
