Christian McCaffrey missed the first two months of football due to issues with his Achilles and only made his debut last week for the San Francisco 49ers against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. McCaffrey met with several doctors to quickly fix his issues, which restricted him from doing the simplest of movements.

The 28-year-old rusher even traveled to Germany for a second opinion. As per reports, he underwent stem cell treatment. It sped up the healing process, helping him to return earlier than first speculated.

While on his rehab period, McCaffrey noticed that social media was filled with individuals with varied opinions about his injury. The multiple-time Pro Bowler was shocked to see his injury being discussed even on TV.

One thing I learned about the whole process is you get a lot of Instagram doctors out there. I’m watching a Sunday night game, and some doctor is talking about my injury on TV. I couldn’t believe it.

McCaffrey confided that this is the kind of world everyone lives in at the moment. Even though he consulted doctors with PhDs, he had to sit on his couch and listen to someone whom he barely knew.

The Instagram doctors didn’t hinder Christian McCaffrey’s first start of the season for the 49ers

The 49ers medical boards first discovered McCaffrey’s injury while he was at training camp. He missed a total of ten game days (including bye week).

The 49ers faithful breathed a sigh of relief after head coach Kyle Shanahan finally announced that McCaffrey was healthy enough to start for them once again. However, his newlywed wife, Olivia Culpo, was very nervous before the game as she firsthand witnessed the downside of Achilles tendinitis. Before the game, she posted a video on TikTok.

Let’s get ready for Christian’s first game back. I am so nervous. We’re in Charlotte right now. We’re going to go from Charlotte to Tampa, straight to the game.

McCaffrey played 56 snaps, 19 touches, and 107 yards from scrimmage as the 49ers defeated the Buccaneers by a 23-20 score.

The 49ers stand at 5-4 and will require McCaffrey’s plays on the ground to get back in similar form as last season when he bagged the Offensive Player of the Year award.
