The San Francisco 49ers are struggling without Christian McCaffrey, dimming hopes of a season like the last one. However, there’s a bit of light at the end of the tunnel with a revised timeline for the superstar’s return to the field.

According to the revised timeline, Christian McCaffrey may miss their Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 10th. He is said to make a comeback in Week 10, after the bye, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The reigning AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year (OPOY) has not played since sustaining an Achilles injury during the training camp. He was placed in Injured Reserve (IR) and initially thought to be out of play till Week 6.

On Sunday Morning, Ian Rapoport put rest to fan’s worries about McCaffrey as he stated that the player’s trip to Germany has not been all gloomy but optimistic.

McCaffrey is reportedly chasing the same treatment which allowed basketball legend Kobe Bryant to extend his basketball career by six years. The treatment is said to be similar to the PRP process with some minor altercations.

The treatment, credited to German orthopedist Dr. Peter Wehling, is called Regenokine or Orthokine. According to WebMD, it is “a type of regenerative medicine that uses your own blood to treat joint pain.” While not banned by sports leagues, the treatment has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States.

49ers expect Deebo Samuel and George Kittle to be back

The San Francisco 49ers are hoping to bolster their offense after two consecutive losses without Christian McCaffrey. The 49ers lost to a grounded Sam Darnold’s Minnesota Vikings and an upset win by Los Angeles Rams. The Niners were also without key offensive players Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.

The duo is likely to play against the highly anticipated Patriots as they recover from their respective injuries. Kittle suffered from a hamstring injury while Samuel was out with a calf injury.

With Samuel and Kittle returning to action, the Niners will look to inflict some damage and climb up the table. They are currently last in the NFC West behind a perfect Seattle Seahawks (3-0), Arizona Cardinals (1-2) and Los Angeles Rams (1-2).

The Patriots (1-2) are playing in the Bay Area for the first time since 2016 looking forward to spicing up their fortunes. The Niners on the other hand are locked in an “all game matters” stage with Jordan Mason covering for McCaffrey.
