Jannik Sinner and Frances Tiafoe have not faced each other so far this season, despite both of them playing over 40 matches each. Nevertheless, they are all set for the first meeting in the big final in Cincinnati.

Both Sinner and Tiafoe have produced some outstanding performances on their way to the final. While the World No.1 beat Alex Michelsen in his first match at the tournament, Tiafoe started his campaign with a dominant win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The American then stunned 2024 Paris Olympics semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti in the second round.

Tiafoe marched on against Jiri Lehecka as well. However, he had to fight it out against the Czechia. The two players played two tiebreaks after Tiafoe claimed the first set. In the quarterfinal, the American benefitted from Hubert Hurkacz retiring, after which he stunned Holger Rune in the semifinal. He beat the Dane despite losing the opening set and set himself a clash with Sinner, who beat Alexander Zverev in the semifinal.

The Italian also avenged his defeat from the Canada Masters against Andrey Rublev, defeating the Russian in three sets. Prior to this win, Sinner got a walkover from Jordan Thompson in the third round. Now, the World No.1 will have his eyes set on the title.

As per the popular consensus, Sinner will be the favorite to win the men’s singles final at the Cincinnati Open 2024. The Italian has enjoyed a dominant season, losing only 5 matches out of the 52 played so far. Despite injury troubles, Sinner has managed to reach at least the quarterfinal stage of every tournament he has played.

The reigning Australian Open champion has won four titles this season and will be hoping to add the fifth one on Monday. Meanwhile, Frances Tiafoe has not won a title yet.
