The Cincinnati Open is the last combined ATP and WTA 1000 event before the US Open, and will be held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. It’s also the second tournament of this category on the North American hard-court swing after the Canadian Open, where 18-year-old Victoria Mboko scripted history by defeating four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka in the final.
In the men’s final, Ben Shelton came from a set down to beat Karen Khachanov and lift his career’s first ATP Masters 1000 title. Shelton has never progressed beyond the quarterfinals in Cincinnati, reaching the stage only once, in 2024.
The Cincinnati Masters will mark the return of Aryna Sabalenka, Jannik Sinner, and Carlos Alcaraz; they were last seen in action at Wimbledon, where the Belarusian ace was defeated in the semifinal by Amanda Anisimova, and Sinner spoiled Alcaraz’s three-peat dream with a four-set win in the final.
Sinner and Sabalenka will play in the Cincinnati tournament as the defending champions. Last year, the Italian ace defeated Frances Tiafoe, while Sabalenka beat Jessica Pegula.
Iga Swiatek is a two-time finalist in Cincinnati (2023 and 2024). Last year, she fell in straight sets against Sabalenka. In 2023, World No.2 Coco Gauff denied her the win before she reached the final and beat Karolina Muchova to lift her career’s first WTA 1000 title.
Swiatek and Gauff played the Montreal WTA 1000 before arriving in Cincinnati. The six-time Grand Slam champion lost to Clara Tauson in the fourth round, while Gauff lost to Mboko in the same round.

Men’s World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz was denied the title by Novak Djokovic in 2023. The 24-time Grand Slam champion skipped the tournament last year and won’t be playing this year as well.
Roger Federer has won the most titles (7) here. Seven-time Grand Slam singles champion Venus Williams has accepted a wild card. She made her return to tennis at the Citi Open, where she beat compatriot Peyton Stearns before losing to Magdalena Frech.
The last American woman to win in Cincinnati is Gauff. But since Andy Roddick‘s win in 2006, no American man has emerged as a winner.
The singles draw is expanded from 56 to 96 players, which means instead of a single-week event, it will be held for 12 days. Cincinnati, as well as the Canadian Open, has been expanded to 12-day tournaments from this year onward.
The Cincinnati Masters don’t offer equal prize money. For the men’s event, the total prize pool is $9,193,540, and for the women’s it’s $5,152,599. The winners of women’s and men’s events will receive a check of $752,275 and $1,124,380, respectively.
