Delhi Capitals opener, Prithvi Shaw has been admitted to the hospital owing to a high fever. The batsman revealed on Instagram that he’d been diagnosed with fever while posing on the hospital bed. He also reassured the fans that he’d be back soon. However, Shaw will definitely be missing Delhi’s game against Chennai Super Kings tonight.

Prithvi Shaw has been in really good form for the Delhi Capitals this season. The youngster along with David Warner established a strong opening pair, helping Delhi Capitals make good starts in all their games. This will be a big blow for Rishabh Pant’s side who were forced into quarantine earlier today, following another covid-19 case to one of the net bowlers.

Prithvi Shaw’s absence could be a big blow for Delhi’s play-off hopes

Delhi Capitals currently sit 5th on the points table with 10 points in 10 games. While Prithvi is set to miss out on the clash against Chennai Super Kings. There is no imminent date when he could rejoin the camp. Delhi have a crunch clash against in-form Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, May 11. They will be hoping to have Prithvi Shaw back with them for that game.

Prithvi Shaw has been in exemplary form for the Capitals this season. He’s scored 259 runs in 9 matches for them at an extraordinary strike rate of 159. He was also involved in putting up this season’s best power-play score by any team when he notched up 81/0 along with David Warner. The absence of Prithvi could well be the difference-maker for Delhi Capitals in their game against Chennai Super Kings tonight.

Fortunately, Delhi Capitals have a good break of 5 days between their 12th and 13th game of the season. Hence, the camp will be hopeful that they can have Prithvi Shaw back before clashes against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at least. Delhi are one of the teams still in the run for a play off spot. A win most likely won’t put them above RCB, but given their strong Net Run Rate, the team is in a good position to achieve a top 4 spot.
