Taylor Swift has played a significant role in increasing the female viewership of not only the Kansas City Chiefs but the NFL in general. Chiefs owner Clark Hunt thanked the pop megastar for her contributions during a recent segment of the Pat McAfee Show.
According to Hunt, the Chiefs’ fan base was equally divided between male and female audiences. The status quo changed after Taylor Swift started dating star tight end Travis Kelce in 2023.
It’s been a whirlwind, I would say, for the organization over the last two years since Taylor literally stepped into our lives. She’s done an amazing job, unintentionally, of increasing our female fanbase.
Clark Hunt said
Recently, the 14-time Grammy winner disclosed that she owes a lot to the New Heights podcast for bringing her closer to Kelce.
Initially, Swift found Kelce’s approach a bit on the nose.
When I looked at it, I was just like, ‘This dude didn’t get a meet and greet. He’s making it everyone’s proble.
Swift added
Kelce’s approach didn’t seem any different from a fanboy expressing his deep love for a celebrity. However, it’s Travis Kelce—a well-respected and much-loved athlete. Swift wasn’t sure how to react because Kelce wasn’t exactly following the protocol.
Her cousins pushed her to take a step toward Kelce after the Super Bowl winner showed up at her Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead. Kelce failed to meet Swift, but his effort left a positive impression.
[Travis] came with Pat [Patrick Mahomes], and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady, he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room.
A few weeks later, Swift ended all the rumors by attending the Chiefs-Cardinals fixture at Arrowhead. The pair quickly became the heartthrobs of Swifties around the world.
Swift’s fans tuned into Chiefs games to catch a glimpse of her and Kelce. The 35-year-old supported his girlfriend by traveling around the globe for the Eras Tour, even during the middle of the NFL season. Hunt, seeing Swift and Kelce talking on the latest podcast, was understandably happy.
Let me just say how happy we are for their relationship. They’re a wonderful couple, and watching the two of them together is really special. That podcast, seeing them side by side talking about their relationship, was absolutely amazing.

Since 2023, Swift has attended 22 Chiefs games. 19 of them were wins for the AFC West club, including a Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers in the 2023-24 season.
Chiefs head coach opened up about Taylor Swift’s influence on football
While experienced football fans or rival fan groups of the Chiefs might disapprove of Swift’s increasing visibility in football, Andy Reid sees it differently. The Chiefs’ head coach credited her with boosting the interest of young girls in the sport.

Women and girls, they’re looking at the game a little bit more. And look at flag football now. We’re talking about Olympic sports. We’re talking about college sports. And girls are having an opportunity to play the game, and they’re loving it.

2024 was a tough year for Travis Kelce. He failed to cross the 1000 receiving yards mark for the second consecutive season.
Kelce did not feature in the Chiefs’ opening preseason loss to the Arizona Cardinals. After playing the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears, the Chiefs will travel to Brazil in the regular season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.
