Los Angeles Dodgers will move forward with the remaining postseason games without their star pitcher Clayton Kershaw. The veteran will be out of the lineup for the remainder of the 2024 season as his earlier toe injury is yet to heal.
The Dodgers have posed themselves as strong competitors this season, however injury has plagued their lineup. Apart from Kershaw, pitcher Joe Kelly has also left the roster with a shoulder injury.
Clayton Kershaw’s toe injury worsened over time despite taking time off during the regular season games. The pitcher may rejoin by the time the team plays for the World Series, given their postseason performance.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts discloses that Clayton Kershaw's season is officially over:
— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) October 5, 2024
"Where he's at right now, physically, the foot, the toe, just is not cooperating. It's actually getting worse. Yeah, this is it for Clayton for 2024.''
Manager Dave Roberts further said that Kershaw has done everything he could to prepare for the postseason but unfortunately, it hasn’t been productive. No one is more upset than the player himself, as he comments,
Right now his focus is to be “a good cheerleader as best as I can” and later think about what to do with the injury. Surgery is “definitely in the conversation” but for now the focus is to be by the team’s side as they play in the NLDS.
Social media reacts to Clayton Kershaw’s injury
Following an offseason shoulder surgery, Clayton Kershaw joined the LA Dodgers on July 25 but was yet again sidelined on August 30 due to a bone spur in his left toe. Even Tyler Glasnow is not expected to pitch again in 2024 due to an elbow injury.
Fans started commenting on Kershaw’s IL news on social media, saying how the future HOFer should take a rest considering the injury-ridden months he’s experienced. One noted, “Oof that sucks,” while another said, “That’s it for him.”

There is a good chance his career with the Dodgers is over. If so, thank you Clayton. You are arguable one of the greatest Dodgers!
