The Los Angeles Clippers have historically been one of the most underperforming teams in NBA history. In 2014, Steve Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft, purchased the team for a staggering $2 billion—the highest amount ever paid for an NBA franchise at the time. Recently, Ballmer made a huge decision by initiating the construction of the Intuit Dome, a state-of-the-art arena that will serve as the new home for the Clippers.

On Thursday Steve Ballmer opened the gates of the $2 billion Intuit Dome which built up the hype between the fans and the LA community. As a token of appreciation of all those who attended the event, the Clippers management handed out special rings. This gesture of giving out the rings suffered a lot of trolling on social media.

The Clippers have yet to reach the NBA Finals and have repeatedly faltered in the final moments of potential victories. When Paul George and Kawhi Leonard signed with the team, many believed the Clippers were poised to become championship contenders. However, that expectation never materialized. Their inability to reach the finals, combined with their tendency to choke in crucial moments, has been a major disappointment for fans. Now, with the departure of Paul George, the Clippers find themselves in a difficult situation once again.

The management’s best idea in recent years has been the construction of the Intuit Dome. However, the jokes about the team’s lack of rings will only stop if the Clippers manage to win a championship soon. Despite the trolling, the addition of the Intuit Dome could give the Clippers an edge over their opponents.

Fans in splits as Clippers give out rings during Intuit Dome opening ceremony

Recently Steve Ballmer had held the opening ceremony of the Intuit Dome. All those who attended the ceremony received a ring as a token of appreciation. This gesture by the Clippers had the NBA world trolling the Clippers franchise. Many fans even stated that it would be the only ring the Clippers will ever get.

Fans had a wide range of hilarious reactions on the social media. Some fans even took shots at the Clippers management.

The Clippers can shut all the ring jokes by winning a ring. They still have Kawhi Leonard, have made a few great signings this offseason and will be aiming to win it all in 2024-25. Hopefully moving to the Intuit Dome can bring some luck to the team.
