FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu opened up on all pressing matters related to club in a full-length interview to Barca TV. The main features of the interview were Ronald Koeman’s arrival as the manager, Lionel Messi’s future among others. He also addressed issues such as the club’s presidential elections and transfers.

Earlier, Koeman was announced as the new Barca coach. The Dutchman was greeted warmly by the fans at the Camp Nou. The management is backing him up to lead Barca in an innovative way as they’re aware of his style. Bartomeu said Koeman understands the way Barca loves to function and will surely be adapting to their style of play.

The club president said he is currently in talks with Messi’s father as the Argentine’s contract runs out in 2021.

How will Barcelona re-shape and get going again?

The media even questioned the president about him resigning. But Bartomeu stated that the club needed him and none the less, he wasn’t looking to leave so soon.

Coutinho’s future at the club was also a point of discussion. Bartomeu said, “I will leave the decision to the technical staff and the manager to think on his future at the club.”

The bid for Neymar last season was widely appreciated but Paris Saint-Germain wasn’t willing to give him away.

Bartomeu clearly stated that Neymar’s return to Camp Nou would be very difficult. However, the talks with Inter for Lautaro ended in June 2020 and the final verdict is awaited.

The core will remain untouchable for sure with players like Messi, Dembele, Griezmann, De Jong, Semedo and many others being the future of the club. The interview concluded with Bartomeu stating the importance of renewal of the squad and possibly bidding goodbye to some of the honourable players.
