Tonight’s episode of SmackDown featured the highly anticipated Draft, where superstars switched their brands. Additionally, the main event showcased an electrifying match between Cody Rhodes and Carmelo Hayes. However, fans in attendance were in for another surprise. CM Punk came out and addressed the WWE Universe after SmackDown went off-air. 

The Best in the World first thanked the Cincinnati crowd for showing up on behalf of the entire roster. Then, CM Punk shared positive news about his tricep injury and said that although he didn’t have to wear the brace anymore, he is still not fully fit. However, he promised fans that he would be back and would be wrestling against many top superstars soon.

While claiming that Pete Rose deserved to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, Punk was interrupted by Chad Gable. The leader of The Alpha Academy recently tapped into his dark side when he lost against Sami Zayn. Gable had enough of his failures. As a result, he insulted all of his teammates and ordered them to help him win the I.C. title.

Speaking of Punk’s injury, he previously stated in an interview that it would take a few more months for him to fully recover and return to in-ring action. Despite his injury, he has continued his rivalry with Drew McIntyre, costing him the World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania XL. The next night on Raw, he continued to torment The Scottish Warrior. This time for an opportunity to become the No. 1 contender by distracting him. 

Sami Zayn reveals his relationship status with CM Punk

When CM Punk returned to WWE after almost a decade, there was speculation about his relationship with some of the superstars backstage. One of those stars was Sami Zayn, who didn’t see eye-to-eye with him. As such, Zayn gave an insight into his relationship with The Best in the World since the shocking night at Survivor Series.

While speaking on the Gorilla Position podcast, The Underdog from the Underground spoke candidly about his relationship with Punk. The 39-year-old revealed that although they had some ups and downs, they were able to keep the slate clean after they had a one-on-one conversation. Zayn felt that he didn’t want things to be weird between them. 

I've known him for a very long time. There's been some ups, there's been some downs. He showed up and I was like, 'I just don't want this to be weird. Say whatever you need to say.' He said his piece, I said my piece. Clean slate. That's it.

The two interacted on-screen on the Raw after the Royal Rumble PLE. The Intercontinental Champion intervened when Drew McIntyre attacked an injured CM Punk. Fast forward a couple of months, and both superstars took part in celebrating Cody Rhodes‘ win at WrestleMania XL.
