Needless to say, CM Punk is not one to mince his words. He is unafraid to condone things he is passionate about and has often spoken out for things like LGBTQ+ rights. Along the same lines, the 45-year-old recently made a bold political statement on air.

CM Punk was recently on the commentary panel of Cage Fury Fighting Championship 137. Towards the latter half of the show, the commentators encouraged viewers to register as voters for the upcoming elections. One of them also vouched for a local candidate. When the Straight Edge Superstar was asked for his political opinion, he simply said that he wanted the genocide to end.

The other commentators started chuckling upon hearing this remark and quickly transitioned into the next fight. This comment by Punk was most likely a reference to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. The Best in the World has made his stance very clear on the subject and is not afraid to hide it while in the public eye.

Punk entered the realm of MMA commentary in 2018 when he signed a contract with Cage Fury Fighting Championship. He was frequently seen performing commentary duties for the company while he was out injured earlier this year. He is also one of those professional wrestlers who turned into MMA fighters later in his career. Punk’s commentating stint kick started only a few months after his disappointing UFC debut.

WWE Universe is taken aback after CM Punk makes controversial political comment on live TV

Although fans generally expect such controversial statements from the Voice of the Voiceless, it was still shocking to hear CM Punk say this without any hesitation. Some netizens told him to say this on Raw, which likely will not happen. The company disallows its wrestlers from making such political comments due to its sponsorships, PR, and deals with international bodies like the Saudi Arabian government.

Other wrestlers like Sami Zayn have only spoken out for this cause through subtext. They have refrained from commenting on the situation directly in both interviews and on WWE TV. Only wrestlers who were released from the company, like Mustafa Ali or Mansoor, have publicly expressed their views.

Fans, regardless of which side they were on, were still happy to see Punk speaking out for what he believed in. Some social media users called out the commentators for laughing at this remark. However, it was likely just an attempt to change the topic and transition away.
