On Monday night, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio took to his Instagram page to share a heartbreaking personal update. Mysterio revealed that his father, Roberto Gutierrez, had passed away on Saturday. Additionally, Mysterio penned a wholesome message for the man who raised him. The former WWE Champion lauded Roberto for setting an example on how to maintain personal relationships.
Mysterio further detailed how his father was worried about leaving behind his wife. As such, Mysterio assured that he and the rest of the family would always look out for her. In addition to this heartwarming note, Mysterio posted several photos of Roberto with his family. Needless to say, the Master of the 619 certainly made his father proud throughout his life.
While the Mysterio family mourned this devastating loss, both father and son, Rey and Dominik, competed on last night’s pre-taped episode of Raw. The legendary luchador teamed with LWO teammate Zelina Vega to take on American Made’s Chad Gable and Ivy Nile. After an enthralling back-and-forth encounter, Rey Mysterio and Vega emerged victorious.
Meanwhile, Dominik Mysterio also wrestled in tag team action. Dom and fellow Judgment Day member, Carlito, squared off against the War Raiders. In the end, Ivar and Erik easily picked up the win. However, their celebrations were cut short by Finn Balor and JD McDonagh. The World Tag Team Champions sent a bold statement to their #1 contenders ahead of their upcoming title bout.

Both Zelina Vega and Chris Jericho noted that Mysterio’s father had raised an “incredible” son. Furthermore, the likes of CM Punk and Adam Pearce wrote heart emojis as a way to spread their love for the Mysterio family.
