CM Punk references All In brawl on Raw (via WWE and AEW)
Just as Drew McIntyre left the arena, CM Punk pulled up to last night’s Monday Night Raw in Hartford, Connecticut. As such, the Second City Saint didn’t waste time going to the ring to address the WWE Universe. Throughout the majority of his promo, Punk talked about his hatred of The Scottish Warrior. However, he didn’t miss the opportunity to make a quirky reference about his infamous All In backstage scuffle with Jack Perry.
While mocking McIntyre, the Best in the World claimed that his rival was a “choke artist.” Seconds later, Punk said he was one as well, however, in a different way. The former WWE Champion obviously meant to mention his controversial brawl with Perry, where he choked the AEW star at All In last year. Moreover, he shouted out Pat McAfee, who, on commentary, joked by saying, “Guillotine.”
Despite taking place almost nine months ago, the backstage brawl is still talked about to this day. The topic gained more attention when CM Punk spoke in detail about it during an interview with Ariel Helwani. In response, AEW took advantage of the situation by airing the security footage. Furthermore, it ended up helping Jack Perry‘s eventual return at Dynasty and the subsequent attack on Tony Khan days later on Dynamite.
As for Punk’s message to Drew McIntyre on Raw, the latter won’t be happy that he missed his rival by just a few seconds. The Straight Edge Superstar asked fans and McAfee to ‘tweet’ at McIntyre. Most importantly, he subtly teased finally competing against the 38-year-old at the upcoming Clash At The Castle PLE in Scotland.
Drew McIntyre responds to CM Punk’s appearance on Raw
To the shock of no one, Drew McIntyre was livid at CM Punk’s appearance on last night’s Raw. And to show fans how angry he was, the two-time WWE Champion took to X and posted a video of it. In the clip, McIntyre is seen burning Punk’s autographed photo. While he doesn’t utter a single word, it is apparent how he feels about his rival.
Ahead of the taping, Raw GM Adam Pearce announced that McIntyre would be replaced by Jey Uso in the King of the Ring tournament. The official cited the Scottish Warrior’s injury, confirming that he was not cleared to compete. Taking issue with this, the 38-year-old tried to distract Jey Uso but failed to cost him a win against Finn Balor.
Backstage, McIntyre complained about being pulled from the tournament. He claimed that, unlike Punk, he could still wrestle despite the injury. Amid the conversation backstage, he left the arena, which resulted in the aforementioned sequence of events taking place.
